So, here we go

A Space Marine in dark blue armour with gold trim, pyreblaster ready, the first miniature the eldest painted, at the local Warhammer store.

So, here we go.

Slightly self serving of course, but I saw an advert at the local games store and decided lets get my kid signed up. The ad? A free Warhammer 40K taster session — learn to play a very small demo game, paint a model and talk with other kids in the same situation. So I did what any self-respecting semi-nerdy dad would do. I signed my eldest up.

Two possible outcomes:

  • A masterplan in family time with my eldest, and the youngest when he is old enough.
  • He does not enjoy it, and I get a few models to start myself off, and wait for the youngest to be old enough.

Either way I’ve likely rinsed myself of spare income for a while.

So the wait for you, dear reader, is not that long. For my son it was AGES! I mean, I mentioned it on Wednesday evening and he had to wait until Thursday afternoon. I can tell you the taster session was well received.

The poor boy has to wait even MORE! 11th Edition has been released recently I remember 2nd and 3rd Editions… so um… anyway. I decided lets go whole hog and splash out on the Starter Set, which was of course preorder as it was to be released on Saturday, and well, delivery is only this coming Wednesday.

I did what any crazy dad would do: get a box of Infernus Marines. This was a good move. Now if only he would also build instead of asking when I will spray them, that’s tonight’s task.
